Rav Hamer

Rabbi Yaakov Hamer grew up in America. He spent 14 years learning in yeshivos in Israel, including 10 years in Mir where he studied under R' Osher Arieli and R' Yaakov Friedman.

He learnt under Rav Moshe Shapiro ztz’l and achieved Semicha under Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg. He returned to London as one of the founder members of Dayan Ehrentreu's Kollel in Edgware where he stayed for three years. During this period, he was involved in the local community giving shiurim and became the Director of the Shaarei Orah Beis Medrash/University programme. More recently he has led the Finchley Federation Shul with distinction for the last 12 years, serves as a key contributor to the Shailatext initiative as well as giving a Gemara chaburah three times a week at the Ner Yisroel evening ‘Beis’ programme.

Rebbetzen Yael Hamer (nee Deutsch) was born in Canada but grew up in London from the age of 10 and studied at Hasmonean High School for girls. After attending Seminary in Israel,she spent time there teaching and mentoring in seminaries and gaining certification in Crisis Intervention and as a Doula which she has practiced in Israel and Britain. She is currently head of sixth form at Hasmonean Girls with particular responsibility for guiding students towardsthe Seminary which is right for them as well as teaching Chumash to years 11-13.

She has a QTS in Secondary Education (from the Institute of Education) and gained her BA, Summa Cum Laude, in Psychology from Touro University. Rebbetzen Hamer has a wonderful reputation for organising youth events, Shabbos hosting, her inspiring shiurim and warm approachable personality.
